Ivo previously worked as Global Portfolio Manager for ING Real Estate Select in London, where he was responsible for managing global multi-manager non-listed real estate investment accounts for institutional clients. Before that, Ivo was part of the Global Executive Team of ING Real Estate Investment Management. He has been responsible for strategic planning, asset allocation, investment selection and performance monitoring for both listed and unlisted funds. During his more than 14-year real estate investment career, he has worked in various regions around the world focusing on business and strategic direction, executing new business opportunities and allocating seed capital. In New York, Ivo was a Vice President and Head of US Strategy for ING Clarion, responsible for client and fund strategies and forecasting real estate returns. Ivo is a member of the IPD Global Pooled Property Fund Indices Consultative Group and a member of the ULI European Office and Mixed Use Council and Policy & Practice Committee. Ivo has a Ph.D. In Finance and holds a Master’s in Economics from Maastricht University.

Peter Pereira Gray is the Managing Director of the Investment Division of the Wellcome Trust, and works with a team managing the £14 billion multi asset global investment portfolio. Peter reports to the Chief Investment Officer and is a member of the Investment Committee. Previous roles held were Co head of the portfolio Management team and Head of Property Investment. Peter has a wide brief responsible for the oversight of the Investment Services, Support and Portfolio Management teams.

 

Prior to joining the Trust in January 2001, Peter worked for 12 years at Prudential Property Investment Managers, latterly as a Director of Property Fund Management and Deputy Life Fund Manager.

 

Peter is a past Chairman of the Investment Property Forum, the UK’s leading property investment professionals’ members association and was a past founding and advisory board member and member of the Management Board of INREV (the European Association for unlisted real estate vehicles). He is a member of both the Bank of England Commercial and Residential Property Forums, and a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Peter is also an Advisory Board member for Composition Capital Partners, with offices in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

 

Outside work he is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Advisory Board member and Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Continuing Professional Development.

While at Merrill Lynch, he was responsible for structuring, raising and managing the Bosphorus Real Estate Fund I which made investments in excess of €500 million. Prior to Merrill Lynch’s Real Estate Principal Investment group, Ali was a Vice President at Citigroup, where he was responsible for the execution of European real estate investments with a transaction volume of over €10 billion. Russell Jewell has been active in the European real estate markets for over 25 years. After obtaining a degree in Urban Land administration in 1981, Russell trained initially as a Chartered Surveyor in London before moving to Spain in 1988 where he was a Partner at Jones Lang Wooton in Madrid and subsequently at Healey&Baker in Barcelona. Returning to the UK in 1994, he was a Fund manager at Pacific Investments and then moved to Merrill Lynch in 1998 where he was Head of Global Principal investments (GPI) for Europe for 8 years. GPI invested the firm’s capital in a variety of opportunistic real estate equity and mezzanine positions across Europe and included financing the acquisition of two major European public property companies, Haslemere Estates and Green Properties. In 2006 Russell Joined Strategic Value Partners, a hedge fund focusing on building a substantial German real estate portfolio and on the acquisition of European real estate debt and CMBS. He joined AEW Europe in July 2011 as Head of Private Equity Funds.

Ben founded First Property Group plc (Fprop) in 2000 and listed it on AIM (FPO.L) in the same year. The Group’s fund management activities began in 2002 with the establishment of First Property Asset Management Ltd (FPAM). At 30 September 2012, FPAM had some £347 million under management in 6 funds invested across the United Kingdom and Central Europe, principally in Poland. The investment performance of FPAM’s funds under management in Poland and in Central Europe ranked No.1 versus the Investment Property Databank (IPD) universe for Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) for the three, four, five, six and seven years to 31 December 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012. In 2005, following sharp price rises in commercial property in the UK, the Group sought investor permission to sell UK assets and commence investment in Poland. A Warsaw office was established in June 2005. This strategic decision led to the Group substantially outperforming the IPD UK Benchmark over the same period. Fprop now employs 24 staff in Poland. It returned to investing in the UK in 2009 following wide spread price falls in the wake of the credit crunch. Ben has over 18 years’ experience in direct property investment. Prior to establishing the Group he operated in a private capacity as a property developer and investor, during which time he was involved in over 70 transactions totalling in excess of £100 million. Ben’s early career started as an analyst in corporate finance at Shearson Lehman Bros in 1987, followed by a position as Finance Director of PWS Holdings plc (a London Stock Exchange listed Lloyds reinsurance broker) from 1989 to 1994. He was educated at Rugby School and Cambridge University.

Mr Barris is a Founding Partner of Peakside Capital and responsible for deal origination and execution, as well as new business. Mr. Barris is a member of the Investment Committees of PREF I, PREF II and BREF.

Mr Barris was formerly a Managing Director and head of Real Estate Principal Investments at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 1997, Mr Barris held senior-level positions at Starwood Capital (where he was the Partner in charge of Europe) and Deutsche Bank AG (where he was the Managing Director responsible for the European activities of the Real Estate Opportunities Group).

While in these positions, Mr Barris oversaw or participated in the acquisition of office, retail, hotel, logistics, residential and NPL investments in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, U.K., the Czech Republic, Poland, Serbia, the Slovak Republic and Turkey, with an aggregate transaction value significantly in excess of €10 billion. Prior to these positions, Mr Barris held various positions in the Mortgage Securities Department of the Goldman Sachs Group in New York and London.

Mr Barris graduated with Honours from University of Michigan Business School with a Masters degree in Business Administration and Finance. Mr Barris is also a summa cum laude graduate of Bowdoin College in Economics.  Mr Barris is a U.S. citizen and is based in Zug, Switzerland.

Marcus Sperber, Managing Director, is Head of BlackRock's International Real Estate business and portfolio Director of the BlackRock UK Property Fund responsible for the implementation of strategy and performance of the fund. He leads a team of investment professionals dedicated to the management of BlackRock’s Real Estate platform across EMEA & Asia Pac.  Marcus also has responsibility for BlackRock’s Alternative Investment business in EMEA.

Mr. Sperber's service with the firm dates back to 2002, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he was the portfolio manager of the Merrill Lynch Property Fund, responsible for the performance and management of the properties held within the Fund and sourcing property transactions. Prior to joining MLIM, he worked for 14 years within the property industry, specializing in property investment, development and regeneration.

Mr. Sperber earned a BSc degree in Urban Land Economics from Sheffield Polytechnic. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and sits on the Management Committee of the Association of Real Estate Funds (AREF).

Adrian has 15 years experience in the real estate and finance industry having worked in several markets across the globe including UK, Western Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Fidelity in 2008, he worked at Invista Real Estate developing their listed real estate and residential fund offerings. Prior to that, Adrian was a Director in the real estate corporate finance team of UBS Investment Bank working on IPOs, M&A and debt financing for property companies.

Yusuf is Principal – Alternatives at the Pension Protection Fund responsible for managing investments in alternatives including real estate, private equity and credit. Till February 2011, Yusuf was an Investment Principal at Aon Consulting advising UK pension fund clients on investment governance, strategy, implementation, manager selection and monitoring.  Yusuf coordinated the research into asset classes and strategies and a weekly discussion on markets to formulate advice on current investment opportunities and risks.  Previously, Yusuf was a senior investment consultant at Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow and a member of the hedge fund manager research team. Formerly a trustee and investment committee member of the Citibank (UK) Pension Scheme, Yusuf is presently a trustee of the Sodexo Pension Scheme.  He also coordinates the activities of the Marathon Club, a group of trustees and senior executives promoting a long-term approach to investment.

 

Yusuf has over 25 years experience as a banker with Citibank. He was a Senior Credit Officer and Managing Director for relationship banking with the fund management sector in UK and Europe and previously worked in corporate banking in Bahrain and Pakistan.Yusuf is a Fellow of the Society of Investment Professionals, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA). He was Chairman of CFA UK and served on its board for 11 years. Yusuf holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison (1977) and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the same university.

Andrew Allen is Director of Global Property Research, managing a team of analysts located in Singapore, Belgium, Norway, Germany and the UK. Andrew is primarily responsible for the implementation of property research and strategy. Andrew joined Aberdeen in 2011 from Oriel Securities where he was a partner and analyst in the real estate securities team. Previously, Andrew was a founding partner and head of research & strategy at Cordea Savills. He had additional responsibility as the fund director for the Charities Property Fund. Prior to that, Andrew held the role of senior manager within the property forecasting (Europe) team, at Henderson Global Investors from where he was seconded to Pradera Asset Management for a year. Prior to that, Andrew was a senior analyst at Property Market Analysis.

Andrew graduated with an MSc in Property Investment at Cass Business School where he remains a guest lecturer and a BSc in Economics and Business Finance at Brunel University.

Dennis G. Lopez is the Chief Investment Officer of Paris-based AXA Real Estate, Europe's largest real estate investment manager with US$58.2 billion of properties under management. Mr. Lopez is responsible for AXA Real Estate’s Fund Management and Research activities overseeing a team of 120 professionals. AXA Real Estate has a broad range of real estate investment strategies including: opportunistic, value added, core-plus, core, development properties, listed funds, regulated funds and separate accounts. Previously, Mr. Lopez was CEO of SUN Group, a private equity firm with real estate activities in India and Russia. Mr. Lopez's career spans over 25 years in Investment Banking and Real Estate Investment Management, which has included senior positions as Global Head of Real Estate at Cambridge Place Investment Management, a London based hedge fund, and as a Managing Director at JP Morgan in New York and London. Mr. Lopez received his MBA from the University of California Los Angeles (“UCLA”).

Peter is a co founder and Principal at Europa Capital; a member of its Investment Committee and is responsible for the accounting and regulatory systems for the Europa Funds including off-shore structures and reporting to Investors. Europa Capital has raised 7 real estate funds and committed to over 75 transactions totalling some €7.0 billion across 18 European countries.  In 1986 he commenced his career at Binder Hamlyn where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then moved to work within its private equity division. From 1990 to 1998 he was at Morgan Grenfell (now part of Deutsche Bank) as part of an initial team which established its management buy-out operation. He was involved with creating and managing three pan European funds and funds for France, Italy and South East Asia, extending to over £1 billion under management.

 

Peter attended The University of Exeter and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  He volunteered for 13 years and was a founder member of the British Venture Capital Association Regulatory Committee which lobbies the UK Financial Services Authority, the Treasury and other public bodies on behalf of the private equity industry. He also co-established a private equity finance directors forum which now has representatives from more than 100 firms.
