Edward L. Shugrue III is the CEO of Talmage, LLC, an investment firm he founded in 2003. He is a member of the firm's Investment Committee. He has over 25 years and $12 billion of commercial real estate debt investing and lending experience. Talmage is a Registered Investment Advisor with approximately $1 billion of AUM in public and private vehicles, including the listed interval fund RiverPark Floating Rate CMBS Fund (RCRIX). Talmage is also a rated Special Servicer with over $40 billion of transaction experience. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Shugrue was the CFO of Capital Trust (NYSE: CT) a publically traded new York based mezzanine lender and mortgage REIT. From 1991 to 1996, he was one of four managers responsible for turning around, taking public and selling River Bank America. From 1988 to 1990 he was employed in the Real Estate Group of Bear Stearns & Co., Inc.

Mr. Shugrue is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA (honors) in political science and a degree from the Wharton School. He is a guest lecturer at the Harvard Business School, where he co-authored a case study, and is a frequent contributor to Bloomberg News and the Wall Street Journal. Mr. Shugrue is a board member of StreetSquash, the Harlem-based after school youth enrichment program.

As Chief Executive Officer of Wrightwood Financial, Bruce is responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s operations. Prior to forming Wrightwood Financial, Bruce was a Senior Partner in the real estate group of Ares Management, a leading global alternative asset management company. He also served as President and COO of Ares Commercial Real Estate where he oversaw more than $1 billion of investment activity. Bruce joined Ares in 2011 upon completing the sale of Wrightwood Capital’s operating platform to Ares. During his tenure, he retained oversight of the Wrightwood Capital portfolio, as well as its third party funds, and continues in this capacity in his role at Wrightwood Financial. From its inception in 2004 until 2011, Wrightwood Capital was responsible for more than $4 billion of investment activity.
Bruce earned an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. from Tufts University. He currently serves on the boards of Wrightwood Capital, Erdman, a preeminent design-build firm focused on healthcare, and Cortland Partners a multi-family real estate investment and management firm. Mr. Silverman is also a Vice President of Silverman Construction and Realty, Ltd. based in Southfield, MI, which is an asset manager of apartment and retail properties. In 2002, he became a founding non-executive director of Leader Bank in Arlington, MA.

Mr. Silverman graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine in 1985 with an AB in Mathematics. He is currently the Chair of the Advisory Board for the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. In 1991, Mr. Silverman earned the degree of Master of Science in Management, with a concentration in Finance, from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, MA. Brett Mufson is responsible for oversight of the firm’s acquisitions team as well as the sourcing, structuring, and executing of debt and equity funding for the firm’s investments. Prior to Witkoff, Mr. Mufson worked at LoanCore Capital, a $1.5 billion commercial real estate debt fund, where he was responsible for underwriting and executing on commercial real estate loans throughout the U.S. Prior to LoanCore, Mr. Mufson worked at Bear Stearns/JPMorgan in the Mortgage Structured Products group, where he assisted in the acquisition, origination, structuring, and syndication of commercial mortgage-backed securities and collateralizeddebt obligations.

Paul M. Fried, Executive Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets, is responsible for leading Greystone’s equity capital placement services. Paul joins Greystone Bassuk from L&L Holding, where he was a Managing Director and head of Equity and Debt Capital Markets. He brings broad experience in raising capital for real estate projects and advising clients on capital strategies. With experience spanning over two decades and numerous economic cycles, he provides clients with a unique perspective on successfully managing the equity capital markets. At L&L, alone, his assignments encompassed over $4 billion in strategic acquisition, equity recapitalization and development projects, for projects such as the development of 425 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
Paul has extensive experience working with owners and investors across the country on all product types, putting together entire capital stacks. Previously, he was a Director at Deutsche Banc Mortgage Capital and a member of the Investment Committee, and co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of mezzanine lender Allegiance Capital. Regarding his work with clients and their equity needs, he credits his years with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy for providing both the legal and financial fundamentals of equity and debt transactions and a deep exposure to the dynamics of capital market transactions and the approach to fashioning client solutions and guiding clients.

Warren de Haan is one of the four managing partners of ACORE Capital.Hehas more than 20 years’ experience in the CRE finance industry and capital markets. Prior to ACORE Capital, he was the Chief Originations Officer of Starwood Property Trust (ticker STWD) and one of the management team that invested over $10 billion in CRE debt between October 2010 and October 2014.

Prior to STWD Mr. de Haan was co-head of loan originations on the management team that founded Countrywide Financial Corporation’s CRE finance business that launched in 2004 and grew into one of the largest CRE lending platforms in the US, closing loans totaling over $1 billion per month at its peak. In 2001 Mr. de Haan was a founding partner of Coastal Capital Partners, LLC ("CCP"). Prior to CCP he was a member of Nomura Securities’ New York-based large loan group.

Alan Todd is head of U.S. Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) Research. In this role, he is responsible for generating high-level, relative value and trade specific research recommendations regarding cash, synthetic and non-CUSIP investments to external and internal clients. He also focuses on providing macro-level overviews and in-depth analysis of the CMBS and commercial real estate markets. Alan brings more than 16 years of CMBS experience to this role and is highly regarded for his recommendations and timely market calls. Alan correctly called the recovery of the CMBS market since the 2009 bottom and the decline of the CMBS market in 2008. Alan has garnered a top-two ranking among CMBS analysts each year since 2007 according to the Institutional Investor All-America Fixed Income Research team survey and ranked No. 1 for CMBS each year since 2009. Alan joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in August of 2011 from J.P. Morgan, where he was head of CMBS research since 2005. Prior to that he spent five years at Bear Stearns, also in CMBS Research. Mark Fogel founded ACRES Capital in 2012 and leads the executive management team as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fogel has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a particular focus on providing developers and entrepreneurs with innovative debt and equity solutions. The majority of his career has revolved around transitional, middle market assets. Mr. Fogel employs an asset management approach to identifying and underwriting loan opportunities, which entails a comprehensive understanding of the risks associated with property business plans and exit strategies.

Since inception, the ACRES portfolio has grown to over $600 million in assets under management and the company now employs 21 real estate professionals operating in 3 offices nationwide. ACRES is registered with the SEC as an Investment Advisor and has developed a reputation for exceptional performance with both its investors and borrowers.

Before launching ACRES, Mr. Fogel served as an executive at several prominent CRE finance companies, overseeing loan production, asset management, and special servicing for a diverse portfolio of investments nationwide. For over six years, he served as a senior officer at a $3.5 billion publicly traded mortgage REIT and later helped raise capital and launch a successful specialty finance company in the midst of the Great Recession. Mr. Fogel has a particular expertise in dealing with complex loan workouts, attaining a Special Servicer rating as a result of his effective policies and resolutions at a prior company.

Mr. Fogel is a frequent panelist at commercial real estate conferences and has lectured at universities on a wide array of topics, including capital markets, asset management, loan structuring, workouts and entrepreneurship. He was selected as a winner for the 2016 Long Island SmartCEO Future Awards and has been nominated for the 2016 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Prior to joining Mesa West in 2011, Mr. Cohen spent seven years at Natixis North America, a U.S. subsidiary of a French Investment Bank. As a Managing Director of Natixis’ Real Estate Group, Mr. Cohen was responsible for debt distribution, which included whole loan sales, securitizations, syndications and subordinate debt. Previous to Natixis, Mr. Cohen was at Genworth’s Stamford, CT office from 2002 to 2004. As a Vice President, Mr. Cohen sourced, structured, negotiated, and closed over $500 million of debt originations. Mr. Cohen began his career at Fortis Advisers (now known as Assurant) in the New York office. As a Vice President, Mr. Cohen focused on loan origination for the life company’s balance sheet. Mr. Cohen received his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Mr. Valger founded DVO Real Estate and is responsible for the overall management, operations and investing activities of the firm. Mr. Valger is a seasoned industry veteran with extensive experience in all aspects of real estate investing and finance, including originating, structuring, underwriting and managing real estate and corporate private equity transactions valued at more than $5 billion.

Previously, Mr. Valger was a partner with RCG Longview Debt Funds, a New York-based real estate firm offering structured equity and debt products. At RCG, he specialized in multifamily properties and was responsible for originating, structuring and underwriting a variety of real estate mezzanine and preferred equity investments, including more than 25,000 multifamily units. While there, he developed and led the firm’s exclusive Fannie Mae partnership. Prior to RCG Longview, Mr. Valger founded Genesys Holdings, a start-up technology company and was the head of sales & marketing for a multi-national packaged goods marketing firm called NutriPlus. Prior to joining CenterSquare, he served as a Director of Blackpoint Partners, where he led evaluation, underwriting, and execution of prospective acquisitions. Previously, Mr. Burkhardt was a Vice President at D.E. Shaw & Co., a multi-strategy hedge fund based in New York. Mr. Burkhardt oversaw commercial real estate acquisitions, which included the purchase of senior and subordinate debt positions, as well as CMBS and REIT bonds. In addition, he was responsible for portfolio management and the disposition of select real estate assets. Prior to D.E. Shaw, Mr. Burkhardt worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. as a Vice President in Global Principal Investments, the group responsible for investing the firm’s balance sheet in commercial real estate debt and equity, with a focus on the Americas. Prior to Avison Young, Mr. Eyzenberg was a Managing Director and head of commercial real estate for NewOak Capital, a New York-based financial advisory firm. There, Mr. Eyzenberg completed multiple property financing and CMBS/CRE CDO valuation assignments. His tenure at NewOak began in 2011 after its acquisition of the investment banking practice of Eyzenberg’s Prodigious Capital Group, where Mr. Eyzenberg served as President since 2005. There he led the firm in consummating over $350MM in financing and advisory assignments. Prior to running Prodigious Capital Group, Mr. Eyzenberg was associated with several boutique real estate investment banks where he participated in over $650MM of financing transactions. Shawn Rosenthal joined CBRE as an Executive Vice President in the Debt and Structured Finance Group in June of 2013. He is primarily responsible for all aspects of the origination and underwriting process including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and negotiating investment and finance opportunities for all property types throughout the United States with a focus on New York City. Over the past decade he has closed approximately 135 transactions for over $8 billion across the country.

Prior to joining CBRE, Shawn was a Principal of the Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group where he worked from 2000-2013. In 1997-2000, he practiced real estate law at Thacher Proffitt and Wood, a large New York City-based law firm, which worked on a broad range of real estate finance and corporate transactions. Prior to law school, he worked at KPMG for two years as both an auditor and tax associate. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Economics from Queens College, a CPA degree, and Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law.

Shawn is an expert in the mezzanine debt markets and spends significant time on joint venture equity transactions, often speaking on panels at industry conferences. He has authored several articles on these topics and recently completed a chapter in a Real Estate Capital Markets Handbook, a text utilized in European business schools.

Gary M. Zimmerman, is a Senior Vice President and the Chief Underwriting Counsel for Fidelity National Financial’s UCC Insurance Division.  Gary’s primary responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the underwriting, policy and production personnel and functions.  As Chief Underwriting Counsel, Gary reviews and evaluates transaction structure and provides feedback on the insurability of major-market commercial finance and mezzanine loan transactions, as well as providing counsel and advice to outside counsel and major commercial lenders. Before joining Fidelity Gary was Vice President and Senior Counsel at Fleet Business Credit’s (now Bank of America) Vendor Finance Group in Chicago. Gary’s principal areas of responsibility included the structuring, drafting and negotiation of appropriate vendor program agreements and related loan documentation with Fleet’s new and existing vendors, the analysis of underlying lease and license agreements, and ensuring loan and Group compliance with Fleet’s policies and procedures. Prior to that time Gary was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel to Navistar Financial Corporation, a subsidiary of International Truck and Engine Corporation, where his practice focused on commercial equipment leasing and financing and related lease securitization. Prior to that Gary was Senior Counsel to Heller Financial (now GE Capital) both in the Leveraged Funding Group and in the Equipment Finance Group, and was Chief Counsel to Exchange National Bank’s (now LaSalle National Bank) Asset Based Lending Division. Warren de Haan is one of the four managing partners of ACORE Capital.Hehas more than 20 years’ experience in the CRE finance industry and capital markets. Prior to ACORE Capital, he was the Chief Originations Officer of Starwood Property Trust (ticker STWD) and one of the management team that invested over $10 billion in CRE debt between October 2010 and October 2014.

Prior to STWD Mr. de Haan was co-head of loan originations on the management team that founded Countrywide Financial Corporation’s CRE finance business that launched in 2004 and grew into one of the largest CRE lending platforms in the US, closing loans totaling over $1 billion per month at its peak. Mark Fogel founded ACRES Capital in 2012 and leads the executive management team as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Fogel has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a particular focus on providing developers and entrepreneurs with innovative debt and equity solutions. The majority of his career has revolved around transitional, middle market assets. Mr. Fogel employs an asset management approach to identifying and underwriting loan opportunities, which entails a comprehensive understanding of the risks associated with property business plans and exit strategies.

Since inception, the ACRES portfolio has grown to over $600 million in assets under management and the company now employs 21 real estate professionals operating in 3 offices nationwide. Before launching ACRES, Mr. Fogel served as an executive at several prominent CRE finance companies, overseeing loan production, asset management, and special servicing for a diverse portfolio of investments nationwide. He is primarily responsible for all aspects of the origination and underwriting process including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and negotiating investment and finance opportunities for all property types throughout the United States with a focus on New York City. Over the past decade he has closed approximately 135 transactions for over $8 billion across the country.

Prior to joining CBRE, Shawn was a Principal of the Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group where he worked from 2000-2013. In 1997-2000, he practiced real estate law at Thacher Proffitt and Wood, a large New York City-based law firm, which worked on a broad range of real estate finance and corporate transactions. Prior to law school, he worked at KPMG for two years as both an auditor and tax associate. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Economics from Queens College, a CPA degree, and Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law.

Shawn is an expert in the mezzanine debt markets and spends significant time on joint venture equity transactions, often speaking on panels at industry conferences. He has authored several articles on these topics and recently completed a chapter in a Real Estate Capital Markets Handbook, a text utilized in European business schools.

Zimmerman, is a Senior Vice President and the Chief Underwriting Counsel for Fidelity National Financial’s UCC Insurance Division.  Gary’s primary responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the underwriting, policy and production personnel and functions.  As Chief Underwriting Counsel, Gary reviews and evaluates transaction structure and provides feedback on the insurability of major-market commercial finance and mezzanine loan transactions, as well as providing counsel and advice to outside counsel and major commercial lenders. Internally, Gary provides input to the Fidelity Family of Companies with respect to general secured lending and UCC Article 9 questions. Before joining Fidelity Gary was Vice President and Senior Counsel at Fleet Business Credit’s (now Bank of America) Vendor Finance Group in Chicago. Gary’s principal areas of responsibility included the structuring, drafting and negotiation of appropriate vendor program agreements and related loan documentation with Fleet’s new and existing vendors, the analysis of underlying lease and license agreements, and ensuring loan and Group compliance with Fleet’s policies and procedures. Prior to that time Gary was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel to Navistar Financial Corporation, a subsidiary of International Truck and Engine Corporation, where his practice focused on commercial equipment leasing and financing and related lease securitization. With experience spanning over two decades and numerous economic cycles, he provides clients with a unique perspective on successfully managing the equity capital markets. At L&L, alone, his assignments encompassed over $4 billion in strategic acquisition, equity recapitalization and development projects, for projects such as the development of 425 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
Paul has extensive experience working with owners and investors across the country on all product types, putting together entire capital stacks. Previously, he was a Director at Deutsche Banc Mortgage Capital and a member of the Investment Committee, and co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of mezzanine lender Allegiance Capital.   • Payment is due in full at the time of registration and includes lunches, refreshments and detailed conference materials.
  • Your registration will not be confirmed until payment is received and may be subject to cancellation.

iGlobal Forum Cancellation, Postponement and Substitution Policy

  • You may substitute delegates at any time. iGlobal Forum does not provide refunds for cancellations.
  • For cancellations received in writing more than seven (7) days prior to the conference you will receive a 100% credit to be used at another iGlobal Forum conference for up to one year from the date of issuance.
  • For cancellations received seven (7) days or less prior to an event (including day 7), no credit will be issued. In the event that iGlobal Forum cancels an event, delegate payments at the date of cancellation will be credited to a future iGlobal Forum event. This credit will be available for up to one year from the date of issuance.
  • In the event that iGlobal Forum postpones an event, delegate payments at the postponement date will be credited towards the rescheduled date. If the delegate is unable to attend the rescheduled event, the delegate will receive a 100% credit representing payments made towards a future iGlobal Forum event. This credit will be available for up to one year from the date of issuance. No refunds will be available for cancellations or postponements.
  • iGlobal Forum is not responsible for any loss or damage as a result of a substitution, alteration or cancellation/postponement of an event. iGlobal Forum shall assume no liability whatsoever in the event this conference is cancelled, rescheduled or postponed due to a fortuitous event, Act of God, unforeseen occurrence or any other event that renders performance of this conference impracticable or impossible. For purposes of this clause, a fortuitous event shall include, but not be limited to: war, fire, labor strike, extreme weather or other emergency.
  • Please note that speakers and topics were confirmed at the time of publishing, however, circumstances beyond the control of the organizers may necessitate substitutions, alterations or cancellations of the speakers and/or topics.
