Alexia C. Kelly, Policy Program Manager, THE CLIMATE TRUST

Alexia Kelly is the Policy Program Manager at The Climate Trust. As Policy Program Manager, Ms. Kelly is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s policy engagement strategy and initiatives. She is also the Program Manager for the Offset Quality Initiative, a collaborative policy consortium of six leading non-profits in the GHG offset field. Ms. Kelly manages OQI’s strategy, policy initiatives and fundraising efforts. In addition, Ms. Kelly is a faculty member of the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, where she instructs a course on project level accounting.

Alexia holds a B.A. in Planning, Public Policy and Management, a Master’s in Community and Regional Planning and a Master’s in Public Administration, from the University of Oregon..

Kjell Olav Kristiansen, Director Advisory Services, POINT CARBON NORTH AMERICA

Kjell Olav Kristiansen is Director of Advisory Services at Point Carbon North America. He has three decades of energy and environmental market experience having initially served 19 years for the Norwegian government in senior positions both with oil and natural gas exploration and production as well as with electricity market restructuring and environmental policies. In private sector he has been partner and executive vice president of a power trading company, co-owner and chairman of a carbon consulting company as well as running his own energy consulting company focusing on European energy and environmental policy and markets. Kjell has served eight years as Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors of the Norwegian Transmission System Operator.

He started working with Point Carbon in 2005 and transferred to the Washington DC office in 2007. He has previously lived and worked in the US as energy counselor at the Norwegian embassy in Washington DC. Kjell speaks frequently at energy and carbon trading conferences and he has testified to the United States Senate and the European Union on design of cap-and-trade programs".

Alice LeBlanc, Director, Office of Environment & Climate Change, AIG CORPORATE AFFAIRS

Alice LeBlanc is Director of the Office of Environment and Climate Change in the Corporate Affairs Department of American International Group (AIG). Her responsibilities include implementation of AIG’s corporate climate change strategy. This includes supporting business units in development of climate change related products in insurance, investments, financial products and consulting as well as internal and external communications and advocacy, work with non-profit organizations, and initiatives to engage employees and reduce AIG’s environmental footprint.

Ms LeBlanc is trained as an economist and has worked for the past 15 years to promote market mechanisms as tools for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Her prior work includes:

* Senior Vice President, Chicago Climate Exchange: design, research and marketing.
* Independent consultant on climate issues to USEPA, Government of Australia, World Bank, UNCTAD, Commission for Environmental Cooperation and the US and Canadian private sectors.
* Senior Economist, Environmental Defense Fund: participation in establishing regulations for the U.S. acid rain trading program, research and advocacy globally for GHG emissions trading.
* International (Country Risk) Economist in the banking sector and Strategic Planner in the oil and gas industry.

She has made presentations throughout the US, including Congressional testimony, and globally at government, international agency and private conferences.

Lisa Jacobson, Executive Director, BUSINESS COUNCIL FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Lisa Jacobson serves as the Executive Director for the Business Council for Sustainable Energy – a broad-based industry coalition of energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy interests that advocates energy and environmental policies that promote markets for clean, efficient and sustainable energy products and services. The Council’s coalition includes power developers, equipment manufacturers, independent generators, green power marketers, and gas and electric utilities, as well as several of the primary trade associations in these sectors.

Ms. Jacobson has extensive experience on the design of environmental and emissions markets. She is the author of numerous publications focusing on greenhouse gas risk management, emissions trading policy and clean energy market development.

Ms. Jacobson served on the California Climate Action Registry Power Sector and Utility Protocol Advisory Committee and has advised numerous states and federal policymakers on the incorporation of clean energy and energy efficiency into market-based emissions programs.

Prior to her position with the Council, Ms. Jacobson was a legislative aide to the U.S. Congress; received a Masters in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science; and a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Vermont.

Ms. Jacobson lives in Chevy, Chase Maryland with her husband Chris Jones and their two young girls, Alexandra and Katherine Jones.

Milo Sjardin, Head, North America, NEW CARBON FINANCE

"Milo is currently Head of New Carbon Finance North America, and has been a leading expert on carbon market analysis and price forecasting over the past four years. In his current capacity he is responsible for research and analysis into the emerging North American carbon markets including the development of dedicated carbon price forecasting models. He works with major financial and energy sector organisations to help them understand the implications of the climate change legislation in North America. Milo was one of the founding members of New Carbon Finance and prior to his current role he led the development of NCF's quantitative analysis of the European and global Kyoto carbon markets and was the main architect of NCF’s EU ETS and Kyoto models, based out of London. In this role he has assisted numerous companies in assessing future carbon prices and trading strategies. Milo has an undergraduate degree in Physics and a Masters in Energy and Resources from Utrecht University and Imperial College London."

Shawn Burns, CEO, CARBON CREDIT CORP

Shawn is the founder of Carbon Credit Corp. He formed CCC as an independent, for-profit entity that believes market–based approaches to environmental problems offer the best potential for success and sustainability. Mr. Burns has over 15 years experience in sustainability and Climate Change management. In the past he founded a sustainability division (The ICT Development Group) within a major public company (MacDonald Dettwiler Associates). At Cornell his research on “Carbon Farming” with the Base–of-the-Pyramid sustainability think-tank investigated carbon’s role in rural sustainability in Central America. Shawn ensured that Carbon Credit Corp is a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry (which was established as a mechanism to consistently measure GHG) emissions. Mr. Burns is a sustainability and greenhouse gas expert who holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario; Queen’s University, and Cornell University. As well he is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a founding member of COSAA (Carbon Offset Supplier Association of Alberta).

Yvan Champagne, Managing Director, CARBON REDUCTION FUND

Yvan leads the Carbon Reduction Fund, a Toronto, Canada based provider of high quality carbon offsets to a select group of progressive organizations that are voluntarily committed to meaningful reductions of GHG emissions. He also advises leading companies across Canada on sustainable environmental strategies and programs, and is a regular conference speaker on opportunities in emerging carbon markets. Yvan has a comprehensive business background that includes government relations consulting in the energy sector, along with public affairs, marketing, technology and business strategy experience with and/or consulting to Fortune 500 companies.

Yvan obtained his B.A. in Political Science from Yale University with a focus on environmental policy and business-government relations. As part of his studies, he also completed graduate coursework in the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Yvan is also a graduate of the Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA Program jointly offered by the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern) and the Schulich School of Business (York).

Keith McCoy, Vice President, Energy and Resources Policy, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MANUFACTURERS

Keith McCoy is vice president of energy and resources policy at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), a broad-based association located in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, Mr. McCoy serves as the senior lobbyist before Congress and the Administration on energy, climate change, chemical security, hazardous and solid waste, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, wetlands, Endangered Species Act, waste minimization and environmental justice issues. Before taking over as vice president of the resources and environmental policy department, Mr. McCoy served as director and assistant vice president of the department from 1998 to May 2005.

Mr. McCoy is also the Executive Director of the Business Network for Environmental Justice (BNEJ), a voluntary organization of business, corporations, industry trade associations, industry service providers and business groups interested in environmental justice issues. Additionally, he serves on the National Advisory Council for the Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership, a unique private/public partnership to restore wetlands and other aquatic habitat in the United States.

Prior to joining the NAM, Mr. McCoy served as a project manager at Environmental Issues Management (EIM), an environmental communications firm located in Washington, D.C. At EIM, Mr. McCoy helped develop public affair’s and communication strategies for individual companies involved in federal Superfund cleanups, state hazardous waste cleanup sites, and RCRA issues.

Prior to joining EIM, Mr. McCoy was the vice president of environment programs at Associated Industries of Massachusetts (A.I.M.), a 7,500 member state-wide business group.

Mr. McCoy received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, and his graduate training in Public Policy at Tufts University where he was the recipient of the Switzer Fellowship Award for environmental policy excellence. Additionally, Mr. McCoy has completed course work in environmental law, environmental impact assessment and dispute resolution. He resides in Virginia with his wife Keri and their son Andrew and daughter Sophia.

David Hunter, Ph.D., Director, US Policy, INTERNATIONAL EMISSIONS TRADING ASSOCIATION (IETA)

Dr. David Hunter is Director, US Policy for the International Emissions Trading Association and runs IETA's Washington, DC office. Prior to joining IETA in August 2007, Hunter spent nearly 9 years on Capitol Hill, where he was the principal energy, environment, and climate change adviser to Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Staff Scientist for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Before joining the office of Senator Collins, he was a Congressional Science Fellow for Air, Energy, and Climate in the office of Senator Jim Jeffords of Vermont. During his tenure on Capitol Hill, he drafted numerous bills and amendments relating to climate change and energy policy; oversaw hearings on climate change, chemical security, and environmental regulation; and was a principal author of the chemical security legislation signed into law by President Bush on October 4, 2006. He previously served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Environment and Development and was a Department of Energy Global Change Fellow at the White House Office on Environmental Policy. He holds a bachelor's from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Earth Science from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where his research focused on climate variability.

Nikhil Chandavarkar, Chief of Communications and Information Management, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA)

Nikhil Chandavarkar is Chief of Communications and Information Management, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), with responsibility for publishing knowledge products and policy messages in economic and social development and building international communities of development knowledge and practice.

Nikhil holds a Ph.D in economics from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. In the UN since 1979, he has worked in Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay and in management positions in New York. He has advised governments in Asia, Africa and Latin America on human development and sustainable development. He is a fellow of the Royal Society for Arts, Commerce and Manufacture. He is fluent in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Graeme Martin, Manager of Business Development, Environmental Products, Shell Energy North America (US), L.P.

GRAEME MARTIN manages the development of environmental product initiatives at Shell Energy North America (US), L.P. (Shell Energy), Shell’s North American-based marketing and trading subsidiary and an integral part of the Shell Trading network of companies.  He is responsible for new product development and the marketing of Shell Energy’s environmental products in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Shell Trading has more than a decade of experience in North American and global environmental markets, including the U.S. Federal SO2 program, as well as multiple regional NOx programs and Renewable Energy Credit markets, the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme, and the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism.

Previously, Martin was a consultant and manager at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte.  He holds a Master of Arts degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge, England, and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas.

Trevor Sikorski, Director, Commodities Research, Barclays Capital

Trevor Sikorski is a Director of Carbon Markets and Environmental Products Research within the Commodities Research team at Barclays Capital, based in London.
Dr. Sikorski joined Barclays Capital in May 2008 from Point Carbon where he was a Director and senior analyst responsible for developing long-term analytical frameworks and forecasting capability in European gas, continental power and post-2012 CO2 emissions.  Dr. Sikorski has analysed the emissions markets since 2004 and has authored numerous reports on the subject.
Dr. Sikorski graduated with a PhD in Economics from Strathclyde University.

Kara Saul Rinaldi is Environmental Resources Management’s policy-lead for federal climate change and energy policy in the United States. ERM is one of the world's leading providers of environmental consulting services with over 135 offices in more than 40 countries and employ over 3,000 staff.

Kara has over a dozen years of experience in advocacy strategy development, lobbying and media relations. Kara has directed national policy, communications, and grassroots campaigns leading advocacy efforts with the Administration and Congress on tax, appropriations, and authorization issues for national and international NGOs and corporations. An expert in energy and climate policy, Kara has testified before congressional committees on energy policy and appeared in a variety of media including: Fox News, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, CNBC, National Public Radio, Business Week, USA Today, and The New York Time. Kara has also authored numerous articles on energy policy for trade publications.

Prior to joining ERM, Kara was the Director of Government and Public Affairs for Owens Corning, a Fortune 500 company that is a leader in insulation technologies. Kara also held the position of Senior Director of Policy for the Alliance to Save Energy, a bi-partisan, nonprofit coalition of prominent business, government, environmental, and consumer leaders who promote the efficient use of energy worldwide. Prior to her work at the Alliance, Kara worked on the Climate Change Campaign for World Wildlife Fund and in the offices of Rep. Lynn C. Woolsey (D-Calif.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.).

Kara holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies focusing on international environmental and energy policy from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego.

Jonathan E. Schrag, Executive Director, REGIONAL GREENHOUSE GAS INITIATIVE (RGGI)

Jonathan joined RGGI, Inc. as executive director in May 2008. Before RGGI, Jonathan was a partner of Hudson Strategic Energy Advisors LLC, where he worked with the state governments of Wyoming, West Virginia, and Montana and the Western Governors Association on energy, climate and the environment. From 2005 to 2007, Jonathan was an assistant director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and the executive director of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy, where he ran programs on carbon capture and sequestration, nuclear energy, carbon policy, and renewable energy technologies. Jonathan also served as research staff with the Global Roundtable on Climate Change and as a research associate for Columbia University’s Center for Carbon Management.
